To set up your new Companion light, you will need to pair it with a full Kuna light. Please make sure that you have your Companion light correctly installed, powered on, and within 30 feet of your Kuna light. Your Kuna light will also need to be powered on and online (solid blue status LED).
Before we get started, make sure that your Companion light has a solid red status LED and double check that you are logged into the Kuna account that you used to set up your Kuna light.
Step 1 - Open the Kuna App
First, make sure that you have the latest version Kuna app downloaded from the Apple App Store (for iOS) or the Google Play Store (for Android). Next, open the Kuna mobile app and head to the Cameras tab.
Step 2 - Add a New Device to Your Account
From the Cameras tab, hit the Cameras Plus button on the top right-hand corner of the screen.
Clicking the Camera Plus button will prompt you to choose between setting up a Kuna Light, a Kuna Companion, a Toucan or a Smart Socket. Select Kuna Companion for this set-up process:
Step 3 - Select Your Kuna and Find Companion Light
You will need to choose which Kuna light you want to link with this Companion light. If you have multiple Kunas set up under your account, they will all show up in this section. Make sure that you select the correct Kuna light to pair with, and that your Companion light is within 30 feet of your Kuna light.
First, select the Kuna you would like to pair with.
Then, search for your Companion light by tapping the Tap to Search for Companions button.
Because the set-up process uses Bluetooth, you will need to be close to your Companion light. We recommend holding your mobile device no more than five feet away.
After selecting the Tap to Search for Companions button, your mobile app will search for Companion lights in your vicinity.
Step 4 – Choose the Companion Light
If there is a Companion light (or multiple Companion lights) in the vicinity, the closest one to your Kuna light should now be flashing the light bulb on and off. If this is the Companion light that you would like to link to your Kuna light, click Yes.
If you would like to add a different Companion light to this Kuna, click No. Your mobile app will then move to the next Companion light in the area. This Companion light will then flash the light bulb on and off. You can repeat this process until you reach the correct Companion light.
Once you click yes, you will be prompted to name that Companion light. You can pick any name that you would like, and if you have multiple Companion lights, you can number them accordingly.
Once you enter the name and hit OK, you're all set! That Companion light has successfully been added to your Kuna light.
Step 5 – Add More Companion Lights!
If you have additional Companion lights to add, you can repeat the process, starting with Step 2, adding a new device.
